Susanna has always loved to sing and comes from an academic home with parents who listened to classical music and opera. Although there have been many church singers in her family on both sides of the Atlantic, she is the first to pursue singing as a career. Her musical education began early in Elsinore Music School with rhythm classes, recorder, and piano, supplemented with ballet, gymnastics, and standard dance. From age 9-13, she sang in the children and youth choir of Egebæksvang Church. A short period she also played the trombone in Elsinore Girl Brass Band. In her early teens, she took up classical and electric guitar and played in a girl rock band that performed at a youth rock festival. While in high school in Espergærde, she sang in the school choir and returned to studying the piano. She started taking classical song lessons while studying medicine at the University of Copenhagen. Her love of music and song ultimately led her to shift to the study of musicology, where she earned a BA-degree, and now towards a career as a professional operasinger.
